I rescued this chicken a few weeks ago. No clue of it's history. Super sweet. Missing top beak and some neck feathers, but is eating well and on the mend. I started to introduce the chicken to the rest of my flock. Seems pretty aggressive, has tried to pick a few fights. Still keeping mostly separated from the others. I'm pretty sure she's a hen. I've never had a rooster. She does crow a few times during the day. My lead hen in the flock does crow once or twice in the morning, then that's it, but this one crows more often. I think it may be a Delaware? Not sure. Any thoughts?

Appears to be a Naked Neck of some sort. I’m unfamiliar with the breed so I don’t know for sure.

Those saddle feathers appear long and pointed. That and the fact it is crowing would indicate you have a rooster.

You may want to post some pics of your lead hen. If she is crowing throughout the day she may be a rooster also.

Lead hen is 7yrs old. She's an egg layer, so I know she's a hen.

Maybe a naked neck delaware cross:confused:. Don't see any pin feathers on his neck.

She probably is one of those hens that take on the characteristics of a rooster. This usually happens when there is no leader. I would love to see a picture of her. Does she look like a rooster or hen? Does she sound like a rooster or hen? So cool!

How nice of you to rescue this poor chicken! How does he eat without the upper beak? I know you said he is eating and drinking well, but how does he do it? Does anyone know if beaks grow back on chickens? I heard they do on ducks, but don't know about chickens.
