Roo or hen wyandotte

I was told this is a roo, +-4 months old splash wyandotte, not the best lacing but my daughter loves him. I want to find out from experts if it is indeed a roo?

A female of his varieties wouldn't have that much variation in the color of the lacing (i.e. the deep red on shoulders and back). Here's a comparison of my pullet at four months of a similar looking variety-Buff Laced Brahma.

It's primarily his color, see the picture I posted above for reference

He has red patches on his shoulders (aka red shoulder patches), and male saddles.

Cockerel, if you look close you can see the beginning of saddle feathers.
