Ok so our first two batches of chicks are now almost 5 and 6 six weeks (this weekend). A few have red combs while most others have still light fleshy colored tiny starts of combs. Also, a few that were suppose to be sexed (the almost 6 wk olds) seem to be starting waddles but don't have as red of combs. I looked for the starts of spurs but it seems like a lot of them have a dot like looking things (like a bud) started. DO these things indiciate a roo? Any other things that are clear indidicators or is it too early still? I want to make sure we have about 10-12 hens and if we have more roos than I thought I want to add more chicks now to increase my odds of getting what I want.
