Hello friends!
These babies are about 12 weeks old. They were purchased as “premium pullets” but I’m wondering if one or both could be Roos. Opinions please! Thanks! :)

The whiter one is Blanche
The one with the brown spots is Stella

Ugh…. That would make 4 roosters in a group of 22 hens. Would they be able to establish a pecking order and be ok together? They are such beautiful birds and we will keep them, hopefully without having to make anyone a separate living space. I’m really only disappointed that I won’t be getting blue eggs from them! Lol

Two roosters might work since they've been raised together, but four is probably too much for that amount of hens.

There was one existing Roo (a bantam who is now the smallest of everyone) in my group of 6 elder hens. We added 19 chicks and have known for a while that one of the Sapphire Gems is a Roo, but now these two are looking like they are Roos also, so three of the Roos are being raised together. The two groups are being integrated for short periods now with supervision during day, so we will see how they do. So far they are kinda minoring each other.

I'm a little crazy, but I prefer to keep multiple cockerels. There's a chance one could be infertile, could become ill/injured/killed. With more you have other options if one turns human aggressive or is too rough on the pullets. You can always rehome or cull latter, but once they're gone, they're gone.

I plan to get at least a few chicks from each of the males I have and see if any produce unhealthy chicks, then go from there.

Edit: This is also my first year raising chickens, so I'm definitely not an authority on the subject.

Update:

Stella is definitely acting like a rooster in all ways and Blanche (who I was holding out hope could maybe still be a hen) just crowed this morning. So there it is. Lol
