Roo or hen?

I'm thinking the barred rock looking chicken is a roo. I'm not sure though since I'm new to chickens. I'm going to pick "him" up today. He was hatched march 31st. This is the only pic I have. The owner sent me this pic. She doesn't know what it is. I'm wanting a roo, but would be happy with another hen as well.

At almost 8 weeks old, I agree with you. Barred Rock Roos are usually lighter in color and that was definitely has a nice red comb starting.

Still think it's a rooster? Also I'm wondering if he/she is purebred barred rock. There is a lot of white colouring there.

An update: The bird is looking more and more like a rooster. Still no crowing yet.
