I have 5 blue red laced Wyandotte hens and one supposed to be roo. No critiques on quality please, I'm not planning on hatching. I have another roo (barred rock) that was crowing before he was 2 months old and very interested in his ladies and showing typical room behavior very early.

Our BRLW hasn't crowed yet nor is he showing any "roo" behavior. He was hatched February 25th, it's now June 23rd. does this breed just mature slower? Here are photos -

I have several different wyandottes. I placed an order with a local feed store last year for gold-laced birds. One of my hens has a single comb like yours. I had originally thought that she was a rooster because of her size and comb/wattle color, but nope hen all the way!! Honestly, I do think your bird is a hen as well. I found out just recently that sometimes wyandottes will have single combs, which has to do with "hatchery quality". I do not breed my birds for show either, so it's not a huge concern right now. Maybe one day

. I will say that my "deformed hen" sometimes lays 2 eggs a day for me! My other biddies would not dream of it.
