Yes, we are talking about the same one. That one [Bird 2] is a possible cockerel because of the patchiness. That stripy pattern is one of the ones that do appear on males, too, just much patchier looking and usually with breaks in the pattern.

Snuggliness also tends to be a sign of a cockerel :( Pullets are usually a bit more flighty.

I know this is a very old thread but did yours end up laying green/blue eggs? I have on that looks very similar to this one (found this thread while google image searching a pic of mine lol) and I'm thinking she's an EE. Similar feather color/pattern and green tinted legs!
