roo or hen

Two charming little boys. I had to look a lot closer at the red but the neck and tail feathers are pretty strong indicators as to gender and the legs are thick so he's a boy. The black is very definitely a boy without having to double check. Again his neck and tail feathers are a give away.

They're both cockerels. The sound you're hearing is their attempts at crowing.

Thank you all forvyour help, they are headed to their new home on Saturday :( this is my first chickens and it's breaking my heart

One of the harder parts. Out of my 12 that hatched I believe 6 may be roos. 4 I'm certain about. I only planned on keeping one roo to go with my older roo. Of course the chick my son picked is a roo and I fell in love with the turken roo. So I'm going to have a seperate coop/run for the turken and 2 or 3 girls just so I can keep him. Problem is I need to give up the others and I'm finding I enjoy the roo's better than the hens...lol Their personality is much more outgoing. I'm not liking it either.

We live in the city where roosters are not allowed or else I would keep them. I've had so many mixed answers not sure what to do :/ I need to see which one for sure is crowing

These last two comments are exactly why I wanted to learn to caponize! Roos are the sweeties you get attached to, then along comes hormones.
