Roo or No Roo

Ok, I need some help here. I love roos too. My Golden comet roo is the meanest thing ever. He attacks everyone that comes into the yard. Even the loveable little dog.

I have 3 Cuckoo Marans roosters that don't seem to be to aggressive, are they a calmer breed? *(I hatched them, no gilrs from the hatching but I have other girls)

Can I possibly tame this crazy rooster? How? or do I give up and move on?

Thanks for any help here.

We went along quite happily without. The only benefit for us in a rooster is if we want to hatch our own eggs. Short of that...well ours are proving to be more of an expense and hassle. It all depends on where you live.

For awhile the only thing that changed was me taking some extra precautions to avoid any chicks in eggs. Then some people a couple blocks over moved in with 5-6 roos who crow 24/7. Now so do ours. While chickens and even roos are allowed where we live, it's contingent on no complaints to the city. One complaint and ALL your chickens have to go. 7-8 constantly crowing roos in a 2 block radius has noise complaint written all over it.

Ours are now confined to pens in the basement until we get a special coop built for them with extra soundproofing. Their free-ranging days are at an end and I'm cleaning pens everyday. So hassle and expense. After the fair, they're history.

well....after all the posts, I decided to get a roo!!

I called the hatchery where I ordered and added a gold comet. The girl said they are pretty tame....that was before I read Gretchen's post!! I am getting him as a day old chick, so hopefully, he will love us if hold him a lot!!

I don't know why the hatchery said the first available deliver is June 7th....I can't wait!!! Does this mean they won't start laying eggs until around the end of November?! What will this mean with winter coming on?
