On a somewhat serious note, I know that Broadbreasted Turkeys have to be artificially inseminated, so my question is.... for bulls, horses, dogs etc, thier stuff is sent crosscountry, and to other countries, does this get done with chickens or is the whole process too expensive, or just not feasable.

lots of times breeders who have good stock but want to outcross will trade their best roosters for a couple months, though usually they just kinda trade permanently. But if someone has a nice rooster you want to breed your hens to and get some fertile eggs to hatch they might let you borrow him for a month, who knows.

Yes my friend is a stay at home mom and her hubby is a physician MD at our city hospital. Dang that woman can outbleach and out disfect. my place anytime and anyday! She is also licensed under the state of Illinois to sell birds and eggs (she also sells hatching eggs but they are all mixed breeds except for my birds being at her place).

Every poultry had their own pens, geese are usually free ranged and turkeys are penned up. They got major problems with predators.

I agree with SpeckledHen, not everyone can get that kind of chance unless you know of this person and how she cares for her birds, etc. Diseases still can be passed on, mostly by wild birds as well. It is not too often I would take an outside roo but have done it before with my Amercuana bantams and nothing happened nor anyone got sick. Its been a good while I had a roo so this year I would be having a Welsummer roo and Spitzhauben roo to come and visit the girls this year and next spring before folks in the city open up their windows LOL!

Its a chance one takes if a roo is really necessary but can not keep one.
