Our girls are 16 weeks old today and just this morning we heard a couple of cock-a-doodle-do's! We have a giant Wyandotte that has always pecked us more (just the other day it unexpectedly took a bite of my leg?). Assuming he's the rooster but can't be 100% at this point. Here's a pic of our 2 wyandottes.. Bigger one is towards the front. What do you think?

The bigger one looks roo to me the lacing isn't as sharp as the hens and the comb and wattles are brighter red than the smaller one. Basically it looks like my GLW's.

Yes, he's a rooster. I wouldn't keep a rooster that showed any aggression! They can be really scary and it really hurts to get attacked by an aggressive rooster. They can draw blood by biting and using their spurs.

I was attacked by one of my young boys last year twice. The second time he left a nice scar. Hubby and I immediately culled him.

Agreed.

I recently became the owner of a "fowl tempered roo" His last owners were going to eat him and he is a Silver Phoenix Bantam well lets say after 10 minutes with me he changed his whole attitude quit growling and charging. All it took was some tough love,he now comes to me when I am dishing out treats hops into my lap for some loving and then goes on about his business. My 5 year old son can pick him up and Gene just goes with it,he might gripe for a second but quits quickly and just enjoys it.

He is beautiful and he isn't super aggressive (yet) but our town laws say no roosters. I'm a little sad to have to give him up tho.

Do you have any other chickens? If you don't, maybe get a couple other ones about the same age, before you re-home the beautiful boy. I hope things go well for you!

Thanks everyone. He was definitely a rooster! Fortunately, a co-worker of mine needed a new rooster for his flock. He's now free ranging on a lot more land than we had. We have six other girls, so we're sad, but we still have enough chicks.
