For water I have three things. A large hamster type water bottle, it did take a bit of work training the chicks to use it, and a regular chick waterer thing where you fill the bottle and screw the pan on it, and a taller plastic bowl, about 3" of water in it and not big enough for the chickies to get in. I fill a Gallon milk jug every morning and take it out, fill the water and top it off when I lock them up at night, take the jug in with me at night, repeat every morning. Dont know if my birds are abnormal in the amount they drink, it's 2 chicks and 2 ducks. But they only go throuhogh more than a gallon when they dump it.
