Hi there! My husband and two little ladies live in central Kentucky. We are so excited to start our chicken adventure this spring and any advice would be greatly appreciated! We are looking to start with around 4-6 birds this year.

As Michael said, look around. Read. Ask questions.

Ask yourself questions, What do you expect out of
the chickens? To eat, or eggs? What size coop do
you have or wish to build?

But either way, come on over to the forums, look
around, join in.

You've got time to decide.

Spook

Welcome! The advice that I wish I got before buying hens: check out Naked Necks, I personally have fallen in love with the breed and found them to be wonderful in every way! Added bonus that they tolerate heat and cold both very well, and I personally love the way they look.

:welcome. Sounds like you are doing your homework 1st! Awesome! Chickens are definitely a learning adventure. You learn as you go. Have you decided on a coop? My advice would be to make the coop PLENTY big, just in case you need to expand:D

Hello!
400

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to join the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC.
