Room for chickens

Hello from sunny Yakima Washington! We are going to buy 4 buff orpington to keep at our house for the grand kids.Would a. 4x4 coop and an 8ft run be enough room? Would have the back yard to run in several days a week. Thanks great site!!

I've been seeing many people say that a coop should have 4sq ft per bird and the run should have 10sq ft per bird.

Do you mean a 4x8 run? It might work fine, depending on their personalities and how much time they have in the yard. Here's a good writeup on space:
