Room temperature and incubator

How important is the room temperature for incubating. We just got a Nurture Right 360.
The instructions say for the room it is in ... it shouldn’t be less than 72 degrees.
We keep our house closer to 62.
How much does that matter given its 99.5 in the incubator ?

I just finished a hatch in a similar incubator, with my heating off/broke. Chicks came later, because the incubator was fighting to keep it at 37°C and should have been 37.5° and in the still air incubator I was using actually 38.2°, even when I set it to 40° it just couldn't make it. I've always normally hatched with a room temp of 21° to 22°C.

It depends on how good your incubator is at maintaining temperature. This varies greatly from model to model and even individual units of the same model, so there's no universal answer. You may need to try it and troubleshoot if it's not working. Run it empty first, before you set the eggs, and see if it can maintain the temperature. Is it still air, or does it have a fan? Things might look different once you put the eggs in, since they'll obstruct the airflow a bit. If the incubator is still struggling to stay warm after you set the eggs, you can put a heating pad underneath it, and wrap the incubator in a thick blanket (just make sure not to cover the vents). I have a very finicky incubator that can't stay warm enough (even though the room temperature is 70), but wrapping it in blankets has really helped and now it's doing fine.

I used to put a lamp next to the bator to stabilize the temp.

I just got a nurture right 5 days ago it is in my kitchen and we keep our house at 66 I am not having any issues at all with it keeping temp or humidity . It's awesome ! I don't think you will have any issues .
