roooster to hen ratio

What is the ideal ratio rooster to hen with a&m texas quail?
You can go all the way to 1:7. I personally suggest 1:5 or 6 though. 1:3 is not enough. <---you can get by with 1:3 but no point in just "getting by" since you've been doing all this research to get started right.

I have heard everything from 1:3 to 1:7. 1:4 or 1:5 seems to be the most popular, with 1:3 being a more commercial setup.

ya if you want to make sure your eggs will hatch in the incubator 1 to3 or 1 to 4 is best if you going to hatch just a few and eat the eggs 1 to 7 will work

For years I ran a breeding cage with about 8 1:3 sets in it. The fertility rate was not noticeably better than any of my covey bred birds kept 1:5 or 1:6. You are seriously underestimating the breeding ability of a coturnix rooster.
