My 3 month old rooster has been acting up lately--biting everyone who goes near him. I don't understand this, because he was always so sweet, the friendliest of my 4 chickens, always following me around, snuggling with me, even eating from my hand. I dont understand what is wrong with him. Then, last night, I noticed that the edge of his comb had turned a purple-black color. My first instinct was frostbite. Then i realized this was impossible, as I live in the Southern California, and lately the temperature hasnt once dipped below 80. Could he be sick? Is this the explanation for his sudden mood swings and color-changing comb? Also, his snow white feathers have turned a strange off-white/yellow color around his neck.
INFO ABOUT HIM--
I don't know if this helps but--
He is 3 months and nine days old
He started crowing only about a month ago
His friends are 3 hens, (a cuckoo marans, a silver laced/blue cochin, and an easter egger), all a little less than a month old.
He is a white leghorn.
He started acting up about 2 or 3 weeks ago, and bit my little brother's legs twice, drawing blood.
I only noticed his comb last night, since I havent been able to get close to him
When he attacks, he shuffles sideways, and drops one of his wings, and begins to step on it--is this normal?
2-3 days ago, I noticed his crow had begun to sound somewhat strangled (Before: Er-er-ooo, now:er-er-ooOOooA)...if that makes any sense... hehe
Please help! Thank you in advance

It could be that he's going through adolescence. I have a barred rock roo who is going through similar things, suddenly becoming very agressive with his pen-mates and a lot more jumpy. He will also go through a period where his voice is changing before he perfects his crow. Much like any teenager.

Our old token rooster, who was a BO, was pretty mean around that same age. He chased EVERYTHING. He bit ankles. But then he mellowed out at about 6 months and became our favorite guy.

I don't know about the color change of his comb, could be that he bruised it? If its just the edge of his comb, thats probably what it is. It'll heal up.

It all sounds really normal to me.
