Roos or Hens?

Somewhere I read that one lady put food coloring on her hens vents....a different color for each hen. When the hen laid an egg, the food color smeared on the egg and she knew which chickens laid which eggs. Not sure if this really works, but it sounds logical. If you try this let me know if it works or not. My pullets are 19 weeks old and no eggs yet....hopefully soon....and then I may try this method myself.

Here's the best shot I could get. The next one is of one that I am certain is a hen. I got a good look at Gollum's spur bumps and they are really puny.

I believe Gollum is also a hen. All rounded feathers, no shiny or pointy feathers that would at all suggest a roo. Both are beautiful

Thank you!

Some people hate Turkens, but I think they are still pretty and cute as babies.

Glad you guys think they are all girls, two were for sure girls but these were worrying me.

I'll try the food coloring once I see a jump in egg production. I don't think they are laying yet, because I've never seen them in the boxes, but who knows, maybe they're sneaking an egg here and there.

Thanks for all the help! I really appreciate it!

I read the link you provided -- excuse my ignorance, but what is a POL pullet?

POL stands for Point Of Lay. It refers to a pullet that is almost ready to, or just beginning to lay eggs.

And I cast my vote for Gollum as a girl. What a pretty precious.
