I got that same wonderful dealer! (Sebastopol, CA's AlchemistFarms-ships nationwide) In my first order (I picked up since they are local to me) I got "gifted" an Alchemist Egger with a 50/50 of frizzle and cockerel. No frizz, but yes cockerel. He crowed at just 7 weeks old, mounting at 8! Arnaud was my best roo, but tragically I lost him to a predator. His much later maturing Heritage BCM brood bro took over his job and I am massively more careful. Hatched a bunch of Nico's (Copernicus) chicks this year under broodies, giving some just weaned to my mechanic next week. My Splash Alchemist Blue & Sage Egger (*most glorious deep olive/chocolate splotched egg I've ever seen!), neither of which were likely broodies, stepped up and raised them for me. Both are also from Alchemist, who specialize in egg colors and no vent-sexing. (Roos are extremely cheap if coming gendered, expensive if straight run.)

BTW. their Alchemist Blues come sexed, while their Alchemist Eggers come straight run. Different breeds!

I ordered them from Alchemist Farm! And apparently they’re bred to be a bit smaller than the standard LF. Highly recommend ◡̈

I think they are also bred to be a bit more heat tolerant, since they are in NorCal where temps can really soar.

I started looking at quail and their housing needs tho...Just out of curiosity.

You’re going to have such a beautiful variety! Between the meat birds at my son’s place and my layers we hatched 32 this summer. They’re so fun to watch —especially when a broody raises them!
