These birds are 16 weeks old I got them at the post office when the person that ordered them c o d could not pay for them. The post master offered them to me and here we are. He gave me 16 in all 10 white, 4 red, 2 black
I now have 5 confirmed crowing and I believe I have at least 5 more roos. My kids and wife have now became attached so it's going to be hard to move them to the freezer farm, but if that what needs to be done for the betterment of the flock then so be it. On the other hand if any one in the middle Tennessee area (Vanleer) would like to take on a Roo I have amber sex links and rir.

I wish I lived closer. I have a fondness for roosters. If you don't want to send the boys to kenmore camp, have you tried advertising them free to good homes?
I got rid of my extra roos by putting up flyers at the post office and library branch. All three extras went to live with 80 hens and are very happy roosters now.

Offering them for free is too easy for people to take them and then: 1) eat them, 2) fight them, 3) treat them with zero respect, 4) let them loose, 5) donate them to predators, etc.

Offer them up on Craiglist for $10 each and bring them to their new home and inspect the coop & yard. They have to have a coop or suitable cage. Post some pics too, items sell with pics!

Freezer is more humane than abuse. My $0.02,

Hugh

I guess that's something we don't have to worry about around here, being it's such a small town.
The lady that took my extra roos just happened to be someone my DH had known his whole life. I think if you talk to people long enough you can get a pretty good vibe about their intentions.
I've visited my former roos several times.

I agree, we have a lot of migrant workers around here that would love to prepare a free chicken dinner. No matter how attached I am to them I'd rather use them in a caserole than give them away for someone else's dinner.

Only 20 miles down the road from me (Watsonville, CA), they arrest people frequently for cock fighting, except nobody gets the jail sentence that Micheal Vick got. Same thing in San Jose, only takes a few bad pet owners to prompt a warning.

Honest people with honest intentions are who I want my birds to go live with if I have to give any away.

I just sold 2- 7 week old pullets for 20$. Im the only one in about 100 mile radius that still had hens left to sell-I was actually going to keep them but my friend who I sold 4 to ( 2 months ago) told these people ( her neighbors) about me and they called to get them ASAP. 1 pure BO and 1 RIR-BO mix. I would pay 10$ for a pullet-my babies are spolied rotten and those who know me know they are getting one healthy hardy bird.
