is there a minimum number of hens you should have for every roo?
and is it possible to keep two or more roo's together if there is enough girls and space?
id really like to keep the three roo's i seem to have from these chicks. one of the marans will be kept apart in an enclosure with marans ladies but the other two (marans and araucana) id like to put out in the fields.
we already have a roo there (EE) and 15 girls, now when these chicks are big enough there will be another 6 girls girls going out there.
would 21 girls be enough for three boys (unlimited space they are free ranging chickens.)
the only thing i really need to do is make some more houses for them to sleep in but this isnt a problem....
or is it best to keep these extra roosters away and/or rehome them? im just a little worried they'll end up in the pot as its hard to get rid of cockerals here lately (someones 'hobby' came to an end recently and they had to find new homes for their 2500+ cockerals....every man and his dog here got given one!)
