roos

So those seem like big combs and the first one seems pretty red? How fast they grow, how red they get and how big must vary by breed? It is an absolute mystery to me ! I'm not sure if I understand it any better than when I started out

My SLW was not yellow when she/he was a chick. Almost all black with maybe some yellow accents from what I recall.

How old are your LBrahmas? I have a supposed to be pullet, now possibly also a roo

Do you have any photos of your LB pullets or roos?

I just love this chicken thing, but this waiting game is making me into a crazy woman!

Thanks for the help.

How old are your LB pullets? I think mine is a roo

Her comb is prettty pink but it isn't huge and it hasn't changed much in the last two weeks or so. She is about 7 weeks. Her comb is definitely not orange, like your pulletsbut when would it turn red if she is a hen? Is it when she's getting ready to lay? That's one some have said, but does that vary by breed?
I posted her picture in case you have any thoughts.

Thanks so much for the pics, very helpful.

ya know.to be honest, that whole comb/waddle/feather.....pullet/roo think makes me quite confused too.

IMO I personally think yours looks like a she not a he.

Mine are 6 weeks in the pics (excluding of course the bitty ones)

since they are to have small pea combs....I suppose developing size would be a poor indication to guess on

If it makes you feel any better, I do have some with a bit more pinkish developing combs........and I'm certain mine are girls

Well I am gonna go with your humble opinion. People seem to be split down the middle. She does look girly to me too, but my husband says that's just cause I love her so much

I wonder about the tail feathers too. All 5 of my chicks that are supposed to be girls have nice fluffy tail feathers that point down, almost never up. Could this mean something. I noticed the roo on page one, his tail feathers point straight up. Is that a roo thing?

Who knows. Thanks so much for all your thoughts on this. Beautiful birds you have...
