I have quite an issue. I thought the chickens I had were all pullets with the exception of one (my gold crested polish) only to hear the crowing from the other side of the yard than the "rooster". I have two blue crested polish "hens". I have looked at their top feathers, as well as their saddle feathers and and have been unable to know with confidence they are roos. The only difference in the two are that one has very red and distinguishable waddles. Maybe I mis heard where the crowing was coming from?!? The polish are 11 weeks old.

The other "hen" in question is my "golden sex linked", but actually looks more like a RiR. I am unsure if she is a RIR or a sex linked rooster, this bird is 12 weeks.

I have read that hens can crow, which throws me off even more but I have a cranky neighbor who will freak out and call the city on me if I don't figure this out. I also don't want to get rid of any Pullets by accident.

This is the potential Roo ....

This is the Other blue crested polish for comparison

Here is my Gold sex lined "hen"

This Polish is a rooster.

The bird in front is a Production Red, not a Red Sex-link. It is a cockerel, too.

Your Polish in the top four pics is a cockerel, your reddish bird in the forefront of the bottom two pics is a Production Red cockerel, and your reddish birds with white tail feathers in the top and the bottom two pics are Red Sex Link pullets. Golden Sex Link is one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links.

Yes, I have heard there are multiple names given for the same sex linked birds

, and yes I knew the others were pullets but thanks for the clarification. I was kind of expecting the confirmations I am getting... Was just hoping for someone to tell me I was wrong I guess. I bought the polish chickens as my "pets" for lack of better, and now I have to re-home two of the three. So much for buying "sexed" chickens hun?

Since you bought the Polish as pets, I'm not sure if you'd want to keep just the single hen. Sometimes Polish don't do well in a mixed flock due to looking different, and if she's the only one she may get picked on more. Plus, you'd probably have much better luck selling those blues as a breeding pair, they're really pretty birds. Otherwise you might have a hard time getting rid of the rooster by himself. Just something to consider.

X2 on donrae's advice. We ended up having remove our Polish from our main flock and keep them in their own separate enclosure as they were getting picked on so badly by the other standard breeds in the flock. We has the same problem with our Silkies, so we put the Polish and Silkies in an enclosure together and they got along fabulously.
