Rooser Shoes

Has anyone ever heard of putting little shoes/boots/footies whatever you want to call them, on the roos so they dont hurt the hens. I know you can put saddles on the hens but why saddle 8 hens when you can shoe 1 roo. What are your thoughts?

How about trimming the spurs of the said rooster?

I dont think it is the spurs that are the problem. They are barely grown in and dont have any kind of point on them. He's pretty young. 9 months old. How short can you trim the "toe" nails? I dont want to hit a artery, do they have arteries in their toes like dogs?

Chickens have quicks in their nail just like dogs/cats/ppl etc. Look for the pinkish part and trim just below. If they are dark nails you can shine a flashlight underneath and trim that way too.
