Metal roof put on & sealed the ridges. With that expand foam sealant (wasps can't make nest between metal roof & the plywood). Roofing was cut & given to us by the owner that builds steel buildings. He even gave us the screws with rubber sealing washers. (Making a batch of cookies as a Thank You from the hens...heeheehee)
Also made them a playground/jungle gym. They can sit on top (2 foot off ground),,climb the ladder if they want, and made a swing (foot off ground).
Did have to retrain them to use the nesting box. They made a couple nests in the roost and laid in there. Blocked the roost door in the mornings (unblocked at 6:00 in the evening) and placed fake eggs in nesting box. Did that for 3 days, left unblocked today to see if they went to nesting box or roost. Went to nesting box! Left the fake eggs in box, will leave them for a week just to be on the safe side.
Pictures are of the back of the roost with screen window door shut (has about a 2 inch opening at top, will be shut during winter), full front view, & playground/jungle gym.
