roost and nest boxes for silkies

i know they dont like to roost,but i have read they will if they have a roost not far off the ground. so if you have roost for your silkies how far off the ground do you have it. also if they are not roosting,and i dont think mine will since theyve never had one,how do you do the nest boxes. how do you keep them from sleeping and pooping in them is i quess what im wondering.

Good morning,

When I had the big coop one of my roosts was a foot off the ground and my Silkies got up there every night. As far as nest boxes to lay, they preferred the either the corner of the coop or a box on the ground. Congrats on the Silkies, I loved mine. They're like little dogs in my experiece.
