Roost and Ramp Question from a complete newbie!

There's often more to the story than you first get on here. If you had mentioned that chicken's problems I'd have responded differently.

Some people have their roosts directly over the nests. They use the top of the nests as a droppings board to gather the poop for their compost heap. I built a permanent brooder under my roosts, pmainly because that is the best place for it space-wise in my coop, but also to use it as a droppings board.

The only downside I can think of in having the roost over the nest is that you might want to wear a hat or be real careful where you put your head when you get the eggs. If th epoop builds up just scrape it off.

Bwahahaha! This just made my day!

This wouldn't actually be a problem because our nest box has easy access from the outside, so we wont be going in the coop to get eggs. Hmm... Maybe I will raise the roost and move it out.. You got me thinking.

here's my inside set up, of course I think I would have done it differently than I did, but it is what it is:) this pic is from the double doors looking in to the right. My chicken door is underneath the low poop board, I did a low one, so they could jump up there and then jump on the higher one if they wish vs a ramp that would take up space..The bare boards under the higher poop board are boarded up nesting boxes (they aren't old enough to nest yet) they extend to the inside of the shed on the other side.

Your set up looks great to me:)

The inside is 12 x 4.5 part of my shed,,
