If the paint can is going to maybe get hot enough to burn, do you really want to design a roost where you chickens can snuggle up to the nice toasty warm heat source and wake up with singed feathers/burnt skin?? Shouldnt you have some kind of buffer zone? Like sitting in front of a fire, nice and warm till your clothes/hair catch on fire, then its not fun anymore.
