Roost Height Equality?

I would go with one height for all. I would toss the ladder, put a 2x4 along the entire back wall and one side just enough below the vent that they do not get a direct draft. Thats 12' of roost and frees up floor space the ladder was using. I would imagine it would be easier to clean out that way as well.

...or about 12" above the nests, whichever is lower.
Course we don't know where @CitrusMan lives,
but I'd guess somewhere pretty warm so maybe no cold drafts to take into account.

I'm in sunny Florida. Yesterday after work, I went home and rethought the whole layout. I am in fact going to rip out the ladder and mount to six foot two by fours across the back wall about 2 ft below the vent and 18 in off the back wall and the next one 18in off of that. The nest box will actually be on the floor, which will be about a foot-and-a-half underneath the roost. I am going to build a track system to where I can slide a drain pan in and out to clean the droppings easier. I'll post pictures as I make progress. Thanks for the responses.

So with it getting dark at 5 p.m., I have no time to do anything after work. I did manage to pull apart the ladder style roost. I have an idea of how I'm going to put the nesting egg boxes and the track system for the poop pan underneath. I can't really get too much done until the weekend because it's dark when I get home.

I would like to save you a little trouble. Take a look at Arts coop. He has poop boards under his roost. you could put a roost on the left side and back of your coop with poop boards.I don't use adz in mine. I just throw wood chips on the poop to reduce smell and clean them regular. The way I see it now you will have poop issues.

I shouldn't. I built a custom 32"x66" metal drain/poop pan and I'm building a track to put it on. It's going underneath both roost, with about 10" overhang on each side. I'll post pics as I progress.

BTW, Aart is a she! Citrus Man. I bet you feel like the cook who's had too many other cooks invade his kitchen. All us cooks are trying to stir your soup pot! I'd put the nest boxes outside the coop, for outside access, and more floor space inside.

Also, the ladder is removable so I can slide the pan in and out. I'll post pics. Thanks for the input.
