roost height

I am thinking about getting some buff orp. or Rhode I. Red hens. How much clearance should there be from the roost to the top of the coop? How about from the floor to the roost if they have to walk under it?

I just spaced mine in the middle about 4 or 5 feet from the floor. I know they will roost as high as they can get so make sure your hen boxes are lower than your roost. Mistake I made and had to change it.

These are large birds. I would suggest 30 inches clearance 24 would work but if they hop or jump up at all they will have sore heads

I would go with 30 inches from the floor and at least two feet of head clearance to the ceiling.
I strongly suggest a dropping board or pit under the roost. You will not be sorry you did.
