I'm sure I'm not the first one to think of this, but I thought I'd share the idea anyway!
We wanted to give the chicks an opportunity to "practice" roosting in the brooder, but couldn't figure out how to mount it. The chicks (now about three-weeks old) are in a extra-large plastic bin (see-through Rubbermaid-type...). We used one of those spring-tension curtain rods and placed it in the center, snuggly against the side walls. It seems a little slippery, so then we wrapped some masking tape around the whole rod and tried again. It works great and the chicks love it!
