We have our 3-4 week old babies in the coop. Of course they are separated from our older chickens (1 hen, 1 rooster). We sectioned off a corner of our coop for them. It's maybe 4ft x 4ft. There is a board running alongside part of the bottom and they seem to like roosting on it but it only fits maybe 4 at a time. Mind you we have 12 babies. I have a homemade "ladder" in there but they don't seem to like it as much as the board. It's a board about 3ft tall and maybe 1ft across with "rungs" attached to it maybe 5in apart from one another.

What do you use as roosts for your little chickadees?? Or maybe you have ideas for me to try. I'm looking forward to see/hear your creativity. Thanks! :)

Mine have a plastic storage bin in their area, the bin doesn't have a lid, and they just perch on the side

Thank you! We also have a storage bin in their part. We keep their feed in it but they don't really roost on it. I think it might be too tall for them still lol

My two girls hunted up some nice branches that my hubby put a screw in one end to hold to corner of brooder. The ladies seem to love walking up and practicing jumping up to take spots on them. They have even given up fighting over who got to "roost" on the waterer top.

I am a total newbie though. These are our first chicks and they are currently about 5 weeks old. The ladies love to cuddle on the branch though. Sorry for the red, it's their heat lamp color and that photo was at night

They're so adorable!!! Thank you for sharing!! And no problem with the lamp. Our brooder box is the same way lol. That's a very clever idea :)

They are just getting past what we are calling the "bad hair day" phase. They were still so adorable but as the feathers came in amongst the down, there were a couple days they looked like someone plucked them instead LOL

Lol I feel like they get so ugly that it makes them cute lol. I look back at pictures of when we first got our hen and she was an ugly little thing. We got her at about 4 months. Now she's fully grown and beautiful
