Roost in front of windows?

I'm really wanting poop boards and to do it best I feel like I need to put a roost in front of the windows. I'm in Iowa, will they be too cold in winter? I think I have adequate ventilation if I'm able to crack windows often but probably not if closed. Opinions?

I'll have 13 chickens in here. Tight fit.

What size is your coop?
I have an 8x12 with 24 linear ft of roost space. I've comfortably house 27 birds in it.
I have windows smack dab in front of the roost. I designed it that way intentionally for hot summer nights. They love it. In the winter those windows are latched closed.

The area between the rafters, the gable vents, the ridge vent and the pop door are open year round. I have 2 more windows in the brooder room that I leave cracked open during winter too.

Thank you! I did see one of your pics, I Think this will work. Coop is 4x6 if you don't count the nesting box space under the windows.

If you run an L- shaped poop board and roosts running wall to wall with them crossing over each other in the corner, you will get 10 linear feet. Cozy, but workable. You may even sneak another 2 feet around the corner near the door leaving you 2 ft of door space.
You need to bare in mind that the board should be about 2' wide with the roost centered over it. They need landing space to come off the roost. You'll want to keep your boards a bit lower at maybe 24" off the floor with the roost about 12-13" over the boards.

The back high windows should be fine if they are 18 inches above the chickens heads. If you can pull the top windows down on the front, it looks like that would be high enough also, to keep drafts off the chickens, but have ventilation.

My roost is about 6 inches above the board. I raise it when I scoop the poop.

I had mind lower but found that the lower ranking hens looking for a spot on the roost were easy targets to those already in their spots. When I raised the roosts, the roost time rumble quieted down dramatically. The sitting hens just can't reach the ones ducking along the boards looking for a spot.
