I have an EE who sits on the nest everyday like she's going to lay, but instead, lays her eggs from the roost at night. I have a nightlight in the coop for them to find the nest, but she's consistently dropping her eggs from in her sleep. What should I do?

Is she new to laying? One of my girls did this from time to time for the first month or so. I think she would get surprised in her sleep and not have time to make it over to the nestbox. She started laying normally with no intervention from me. I hope it works out the same way for you!

Same for me. 1 hen counldn't get the hang of it at first but she figured it out on her own after awhile. Good luck!

Me too.

Perhaps the light is confusing her? Is it a red or white light? They should not be using the nest box at night anyways, so I would try taking it out.
