Roost or no roost

Thanks for all the replies. Spent about five hours on the coop today. A little more wire a door and the roosts and I should be ready. I know "your never ready"

Hmmm I never heard of that. I'm in the run now & my silkie hen is always flying up on the roosts we have in the outdoor pen. They're probably almost 2 feet off the ground. Maybe she doesn't know she's a silkie!!!

. Shhhhhh nobody tell her!!

Two feet is probably more of a good jump than flight. Silkies do lack the barbicels that give feathers their ability to zip together and give lift for flight.

Didn't mean to turn this into a silkie discussion.

LOL But, I guess I know what you mean Elmo. She likes to flutter around a lot. I guess that's the best way I can explain it. And, she seems to like to be high up, rather than being on the ground. Maybe its the Silkie Napoleon syndrome.
Mdibaugh, I'm sure your chicks house will come out great. Also,

My chickens LOVE their roost!! I couldn't imagine them not having one now!! They all have their own little spots on the roost and they sleep there it is very precious
