Finally got a good coat of primer on our coop we are building and we are getting closer to painting and finishing the inside. It will be moved outside this weekend and I’m having trouble deciding on where to put the roosts. I know at least 2 feet off the ground and higher than the nesting boxes and lower than ventilation but I’m having trouble determining toward the front or back or vertical front to back or horizontal side to side. Or cornered? I was originally thinking on the left side with 2-3 staggered at different heights but now am wondering if it would be better to run them horizontal towards the back for easy access and clean up. We plan to use 2x4s with the corners rounded off. Right now we have six 6 week old chicks but plan to expand our flock in the future. Food and water will be outside underneath the coop and a 16 foot enclosed run will be attached. Would love some thoughts from this knowledgable community on where to place the inside roosts!
