Roost question....HELP?!!!?!!please!

Makes sense now. I have to ask though why is the one ladder laying on the poop bin top? Does it or did it normaly lean up against the other wall?

What do you recommend working best. I single long roost directly over the bin or a ladder?

I wish I was that gifted in coming up with ideas. That is very nice with the green wire. I am getting ready to build a new house. A 16x10. Would you mind if I borrowed some of your Ideas? I am really impressed with this.

Dilly, one ladder that is laying on top comes off and the one that is slanted is hinged and would fasten to the ceiling so the poop pit lid could be opened in order to fill with shavings or straw. They roosted on the ladder the way you see them, one slanted up and one horizontal.
Many things will work just fine. Depends on your space and how large your birds are. I prefer the ladder type to the roost pit for my particular birds. They don't have to jump from heights and they can all get up high. The higher ranking birds get higher and the lower ranking ones stay lower, usually. I did have one very high roost across the coop for guineas, too, at one time. Guineas do well with higher roosts and bantams do, too.

Here is a question.... I have all standard size breeds and live in MN where the winters are quite cold. I was thinking of putting an old wooden ladder to use by cutting it in sections and hinging it to the wall in my new coop. Do you think this will be OK?? My hubby says we should use something or build something with wider rungs so that the chickens feet will stay warmer in the winter? What do you all think? I would like to use the ladder since I like to reuse/recycle. Thanks! Sorry for stealing the thread!
