Roost Question.

I live in a 36 Celsius Summers and -0.8 Celsius Winters. Would it be better to get a 2 x 4'' roost of just a round one?
I know this is a dumb question, Do chickens poop more on round roosts or on 2 x4'' roosts?

I have a round roost, a 2" tree limb. I've never noticed any poo on it, just everything else haha

The problem is that chicken feet are not really made for round roosts. Wild birds feet are made for gripping a branch, chicken feet are made for being on a flat surface.

Mine rarely poop on their 2x4 roost (Flat side up).

Well, they don't really need to worry about covering their feet to keep warm, but you could still use a 2x4, or a thick round tree branch, if it's a few inches diameter. But I wouldn't use anything small and round, or smooth and round for the reasons ranchhand gave. I use 2x4s, 2x2s, and have a thick branch available in my run and coop. My girls rarely use the branch.
