roost - round? 2x4?

Hi,

this week I hope to move our guineas out to the coop. What type of roost should we provide for them? The same as for chickens - a single long roost bar or a ladder shape with several ? Are 2x4s okay to use? How high do they like to roost?

The higher you can put it the better. I used 2X4's laying flat. I don't have a ladder. They don't really need a ladder since they can jump/fly straight up about 40 feet.

I was told they need a 3 inch roost in the winter if your in a state that has cold winters. They need to be able to cover their feet with their body's so they dont get frost bite.
Smaller ones will work in the warmer months. I have several different heights in my coop and its always the same group on the same roost at night. Kinda funny really they pair up acording to breed. the 2 BR .the 2 RIR the 2 GLW my 1 EE always sits with the GLW ..The 2 roo's sleep on the ground.. guess the ladies wont let them roost
