Roost ?

Is 5ft of roost space enough for 8 RI Reds or will i need more space ? Curious.

mine take up about a ft per bird. might need to add another roost.

my four 10 week olds are all huddled together in about half a foot of roost, if you can believe that... two of them are on the piece of wood that holds the roost out from the wall and the other two are squished next to them on the corner. I hope they spread out some as they get older as I gave them a foot of space each.

mine must not like to touch each other.

let your chickens guide you. if they have too much unrest getting settled on the roost, may need more space. if they like to bunch together like sardines, you have plenty.
