Bought my 8 pullets at my local TSC this spring and have two roosters in my flock. I'm not looking to breed as this is my first run with chickens and want to take baby steps lol! I don't want to sound silly but how long can I keep them in with my flock until I have to worry about breeding? Can you eat fertilized eggs? My golden laced rooster is BEAUTIFUL and I my Cornish x rooster is the friendliest in my flock, he's the only one I can pet and pick up! I don't really have the room to build separate quarters ...

You can eat fertilized eggs. Mine are just over 20 weeks and my roo just started breeding. They might get along but if not some one will have to go.

My rooster came from some one like you. If you have to get rid of one put it on here you would be surprised. I had 15 hens and no Roo so I thought sure why not.

Welcome! I 'm sorry to mention this, but Cornishx birds are very unlikely to live long at all. They are meant to be butchered at eight to ten weeks of age, and are very likely to develop joint problems and heart failure soon. I'd move him on very soon, and I hope your other cockrel turns into a nice boy for your flock. Mary

I have been told that lately Mary! Thought we had white leghorns, but they are awful lumpy! They are about 15 weeks of age and I am currently looking for someone who might want some meat birds for a hen! My 4 year old son loves to talk to my Cornish x and pet his "Mohawk" :lau Here are pictures from tonight
