That is what he is doing, Although as it's still so cold and we still have 3 ft of snow up here they are both still in the coop.
I can see the behaviour pattern now.
He is a very nice chap, never aggressive and quite attentive to call his lady when he found bugs or berries last summer.
I hope he will be a good father if this single egg hatches.
What you are seeing is unusual.
