rooster and hens

Good morning all,
Now I am new to having a rooster. Do they have to breed with the same breed? Does it matter? I have two Buff Orpiningtons that seem to like the roosters company.

If you want to raise pure breds then yes it does matter what they breed with but other wise a rooster is a rooster and with mate with any hen but some tend to favor some more then others

Thanks for the reply. I do not want pure breds as my rooster seems to be a mix breed. Just want him to be happy and friendly.
