we have never had chcickens until this spring, so we’re new to some of the behaviors. We meant to have all girls, but sexing isn’t perfect so one ended up a rooster. He and one little pullet are like a matched set. They sleep mashed together into one nesting box, stand side-by-side on perches, and stay with a couple feet of each other when they are out free-ranging. You really never see one without the other. Why are those two so bonded, and is it common? She’s the shyest, least dominant pullet, and has not yet laid an egg (though she’s plenty old enough, about 21 weeks).
