My rooster was attacked by what we think was a hawk defending one of the hens. We heard the commotion by the barn and when we got there, the rooster was standing over the dead hen and his neck looked like it was broken, it was just hanging over to the side. He had some puncture wounds and a lot of feathers on his shoulder gone. We put him in a large cage with towels and attended to the wounds, but what do we do about his neck? Could it really be just so damaged? He stands in the cage, and we have been holding his neck up to give him water with a dropper. Also some mash, but am an amateur at this and don't really know what to do for him? How long should we wait to see if his neck will straighten up or put the poor thing out of his misery. Please help!

Is he still bleeding? If you can post a picture may help others be able to offer better advice. I would say to keep him in a quite stress free area. Depending on how bad the injury is but he could pull through. Wishing you the best for your Roo. With more info or pics you should be able to get a little better help/info.
