My poor rooster, Big Boy, who is a standard buff cochin, is being bullied by my peacock Peter! So much so we found my roo in the barn sunday with his head stuck in the slat of a wooden skid. I assume he was trying to protect himself from the Peacock. He was half dead, I revived him by giving him sugar water and keeping him isolated all day and night. He is now on the mend but the pea is relentless. He keeps attacking him. I know Peter is full of testosterone right now, but I never figured he'd attack my roo. Besides keeping Big caged... which i hate to do cause the ladies need his protection etc, can I expect my Peacock to always attack him? Or is this a springtime expression of dominance?
