My rooster was attacked by my neighbors dog yesterday. He is the best freaking rooster ever. His comb get ripped up from the base and slightly detached. I cleaned it, treated it with vetricin plus and neosporin. Does anyone have any other remedies or helpful tips to help him heal. I really don’t want to lose him, he is the best rooster I’ve ever been around 😭

You did the right thing disinfecting it. I would treat him for shock by giving him sugar water/electrolytes. Keep him calm and warm.
I tried to keep him in a kennel with a heating lamp over night given he was drenched in blood, but he kept trying to fly up and banging his head on the metal. So I ended up having to put him back up in the coop to keep him calm. He seems like his normal self today so far

Poor guy!

Good advice/suggestions from everyone.

Does he have any other injuries on his body? Check through his feathers just in case.

Keep us posted on how he's doing.

He did not have any other injuries. He was so soaked in blood I was shocked he didn’t have more injuries than just his comb. He did an amazing job fighting the dog off. I treated him twice daily for the first two days and everyone else in the coop has left him alone, (I have two other roosters along side our hens). I was worried they would start to pick on him but he is top dog in the flock and everyone is leaving him alone. He’s acting normal and eating and drinking normally. Hoping he is in the clear!

I'm glad he's doing o.k.!

Combs can bleed a lot, so sometimes it may look worse than it is. It's good news that it was just the comb and no other injuries.
