I'm sorry.

I pray every night for my family and my pets/chickens. I'll be sure and add Mojo to the list. The Bible says He keeps His eye on the sparrow so I'm sure God will heal your baby if we ask Him to. Please keep me posted.:aww

Hunny, after viewing those pictures oh myyyy... I am so sorry!!!
You might want to put up on the topic... "graphic pics" so those who do not want to see it do not complain. Just a suggestion.
I wish I could help, but being new to the chicken I know notta except for what I have learned from everyone here...
Good Luck and I do hope Mojo gets well soon!!!

I have never had this happen to a chicken but, i would keep the wound realy clean and give him special attention and bring the food and water to him and don't forget to give him his favorite treats. I hope he gets better.

Sorry for the weeks of not posting.

Mojo's making it. he's just about back to normal although he TOTALLY gave up the Alpha male role. Now he's walking right and acting normal but he doesn't seem to care as much about being the big bird.

He used to put the other guys in their place if they would even try to crow. now they "get some" right in front of him and he doesn't care.

Oh well, at least he made it through. Tail feathers are starting to grow back.

I have seen, on some wild life shows, that if an alpha animal of other species, is injured and not with the group for awhile then they lose their status. I wonder if this is true for chickens?

Yes, it is true...if it was that important for Mojo to be top dog, he'd be knocking his rivals off his hens...maybe he's waiting until he's completely healed...I'm so glad to hear that he's doing better.

I wish I would have taken pictures of Pooster. They would have been the worst anyone had ever seen. All the skin on his neck and back was missing. I just looked at the pics of Mojo and can tell he will be fine. He may get his Mojo back yet and be the King of the yard again! BTW, I have sworn off BlueKote. It's messy and hides the wound so you can't get a good look at what is going on with it. I used it on my Goats when they were chewed up by my dogs. They ended up with blue mouths and toungs from licking their wounds.
