Rooster becoming meaner by the day. Can I keep a hen alone?

I agree to 3 hens. Unfortunately of the 3 chicks we got, 2 were roos and only one hen. That's why we're trying for more hens but at the 2:1 pace we've been going (our very first hatch was 2 roos and one hen again) just buying an adult hen may be the best option. Then it won't be a roo for sure and I won't have to think about how to get rid of the roos ;)
Order on line from a reputable hatchery. Order sex links. Sex links are more or less no brainers. Sex links are are cross between two specific breeds that always produce a male in one color and a female in a different color. My next birds will be Golden Buff sex links from a certain sponsor of BYC.

Getting my birds from a hatchery is not an option for me as I don't currently live in the US. I have to trust the local farmers or others who have chickens around my area, and most chicks are just randomly "made" by the hens and roos that encounter each other while roaming the fields... literally... so sex link chicks are out for me too. I have to go with what I get. I'll try the local farmers' market next ;)
