Rooster behavior advice welcome

My Rooster I have now and my past Rooster both never tried to be too aggressive with me. I never turn my back to my Rooster either. He keeps his distance. Only time he will run towards me is if he thinks I'm hurting his Hens. I quickly get him chased off in the other direction though.
He loves when I toss treats because he tidbits to the Hens all excited that he has something for them. Silly guy misses out most times because he is too busy tidbitting..

My guess is that he pecked your leg for the same reason a hen would--saw a piece of fuzz or dirt on your pants, a freckle on your leg, or something of the sort.

If that IS why he did it, then a reaction that startles him should be enough (jump, yell "ouch," something like that.) I've had hens that pecked my freckles repeatedly for months, then finally gave it up--no big deal, except that it hurt each time.

So I don't see a need to change anything, except to watch in case any chicken (either gender!) tries to sample you again :)

(Of course I could be wrong, but that's my guess, based on what you've said so far.)
